合浦县依托优质石英砂资源和港口区位，自2018年起委托编制《合浦县硅产业规划》《东港硅材料产业园发展规划》等，以龙港新区北海铁山东港产业园为主战场，引进新福兴、南玻、长利、东方希望等龙头企业，构建“石英砂—光伏玻璃—光伏组件—光伏发电”产业链，打造千亿元绿色光伏产业集群。2023年北海市光伏产业规上工业产值首次突破百亿元（110亿元，同比增长88.4%）。
